Waking Up Refreshed
After a rejuvenating night’s sleep, waking up refreshed is what will set the tone for a vibrant day ahead.
A seamless transition from slumber to starting your day will make a world of difference in your energy levels and overall well-being.
Here’s how you can ensure your summer morning routine gets kicked off on the right foot…bare foot of course.
Early Rise for a Fresh Start
Setting your alarm clock a bit earlier can be the key to a more relaxed and productive morning.
Instead of rushing through tasks, waking up with a buffer of time allows you to ease into the day.
Greet the sunrise, take a moment to appreciate the tranquility of the early hours, and prepare yourself mentally for the day ahead.
Embrace the calm, peacefulness of the early morning. Use it as your inspiration for your summer morning routine.
This time of the day plays the most important part in setting a positive tone for the hours to come.
By giving yourself the gift of time in the morning, you can create a space for mindfulness, reflection, and gratitude.
Hydration and Stretching
Upon waking up, hydrating your body is essential to jumpstart your metabolism and boost your energy levels.
We can get pretty dehydrated during sleep. A glass of water first thing in the morning helps replenish those lost fluids and kickstarts your internal systems.
Pair this with some gentle stretching first thing in the morning to awaken your muscles and increase circulation and fresh blood flow.
Stretching in the morning will help alleviate stiffness, enhance flexibility, and prepare your body for the demands of the day.
This doesn’t need to take too much time. A few minutes will do wonders for your body.
You can incorporate simple movements like neck rolls, arm stretches, and forward folds to help invigorate your body and mind, setting a positive pace for the hours ahead.

Healthy Breakfast Choices
Starting your morning off with a delicious and nutritious breakfast will help give you the energy you need to keep moving through your day (and keep those stomach grumbles at bay).
Here are some of my favorite healthy breakfast go-to’s that will leave your mind and body feeling energized and balanced.
Nutritious Options for Energy
Starting your day with a breakfast that provides a good mix of proteins, healthy fats, and carbohydrates can help sustain your energy levels throughout the morning.
Consider incorporating the following nutritious options into your breakfast routine:
• Nuts: Nuts are a great source of protein, healthy fats and vitamins and minerals.
• Oatmeal: A classic! Oatmeal is high in fiber and can be jazzed up with toppings like berries, nuts, and seeds for an added boost of nutrients.
• Chia Seeds: These tiny seeds pack a nutritional punch, offering fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants when added to yogurt, cereals, smoothies, or overnight oats.
• Berries: Blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are not only delicious but also rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to boost your morning.
Quick Recipes for those Busy Mornings
For those hectic mornings when time is of the essence, having quick and easy breakfast recipes on hand will help make sure you stay on track. It’s the most important meal of the day for a reason you guys!
Here are some ideas for breakfasts that are both nutritious and quick to prepare:
1. Smoothies: Blend together your favorite fruits, leafy greens, protein powder, and a liquid base like almond milk for a refreshing and portable breakfast option.
2. Overnight Oats: Prepare a jar of oats, milk, and toppings like nuts, seeds, and fruits the night before for a ready-to-eat breakfast in the morning.
3. Whole Grain Toast: Top whole grain toast with mashed avocado, tomato, a sprinkle of sea salt, and a drizzle of olive oil for a simple yet satisfying breakfast.
4. Chia Seed Pudding: Mix chia seeds with your choice of milk and a sweetener like honey or maple syrup, then let it sit overnight to thicken into a pudding-like consistency.
Catch some Sunshine
When was the last time you stopped to appreciate the crispness of the morning air? Take some time each morning to get outside and get some fresh air.
Enjoy a quick walk or go for a jog. Or have your morning coffee on the patio. If all else fails open the window and welcome that fresh, crisp morning breeze into your living room.
It’s important to take a bit of time to appreciate the cool, calm morning before the heat gets cranked up. Notice how the deep breath of morning freshness helps to gently wake you up and lift your spirits.
It truly is a wonderful addition to your summer morning routine.
Skincare Routine for Radiant Mornings
Taking care of your skin in the morning is essential for starting the day feeling refreshed.
A simple but effective skincare routine can make a significant difference in how your skin looks and feels throughout the day.
Cleansing and Moisturizing
Begin your morning skincare routine by cleansing your face with a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type.
This helps to remove any impurities and excess oil accumulated overnight, leaving your skin clean and ready to absorb the goodness of your skincare products.
After cleansing, apply a lightweight moisturizer to hydrate and nourish your skin.
Moisturizing helps maintain the skin’s natural moisture balance and prevents it from becoming dry or oily.
That’s right! Even my oily faced friends out there need to moisturizer! You don’t get a pass.
For added benefits choose a moisturizer with SPF to provide added sun protection for the day ahead. Or you can add this as an additional step.
Either way, my point is.. Don’t go without sunscreen!
And this is true for summer, winter, fall and spring. All season long people! Those rays are there and can wreak havoc on the skin if you don’t protect it.
Sun Protection for Healthy Skin
In case that last bit didnt hit it home, hopefully this will.
Protecting your skin from the sun is crucial for preventing premature aging and reducing the risk of skin damage and skin cancer.
Before heading out, apply an SPF of at least 30 to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.
Incorporating sunscreen into your summer morning routine not only safeguards your skin from sunburn but also helps maintain a youthful and radiant complexion over time.
And who the heck doesn’t want that?!
Remember that you will need to reapply sunscreen every few hours, especially if you’ll be spending extended periods outdoors.
Make it easy on yourself and keep a small sprayable sunscreen on you so you never forget to reapply.
Just spritz and go.
One more quick note on this and I swear I’ll stop…for now.
Sweating and swimming will also wear down your sunscreen faster so keep that in mind depending on what you have going on that day.
Reapply when ya need it.
Ok done here. Moving on.
Exfoliation for the Feet
Summertime calls for flip flop-ready feet!
Exfoliate away rough, dry skin with a foot scrub or pumice stone. Soak your feet in warm water to soften calluses, then gently rub in circular motions.
Don’t forget between the toes! Rinse, pat dry, and follow up with a rich moisturizer to reveal baby-soft soles.
I personally prefer to do this step at night before bed, but in the morning totally works too! Completely up to you!
Refreshing Morning Workouts
Getting up and getting moving is a great way to wake yourself up and get the day started.
Whether you prefer cardio to get your heart pumping or the calming flow of yoga to center your mind, incorporating a refreshing workout routine into your summer mornings is the best way to set a positive tone for the rest of the day.
Cardio or Yoga: Choosing Your Summer Morning Routine
When it comes to morning workouts, consider what energizes you the most and what your body and mind are craving.
Some days might call for a sweaty cardio sesh, others might feel more like a calm, peaceful yoga flow.
If you thrive on high-energy activities and love to break a sweat, a cardio routine might be the perfect fit for you.
Try starting your day with a 20-minute jog or a brisk walk to get your blood flowing and boost your metabolism.
You can also mix in bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats, or jumping jacks to add variety and resistance to your routine.
On the other hand, if you prefer a more mindful approach to fitness, yoga can be a fantastic option.
Practicing yoga in the morning can help improve your flexibility, strength, and mental clarity.
Flow through a series of sun salutations or hold grounding poses like warrior II to start your day with a sense of balance and peace.
The mental aspect that yoga brings is a wonderful way to invigorate your mind and a gentle reminder to your body that it’s time to wake up.
Organizing Your Day Ahead
Planning your day ahead is crucial for a productive summer morning routine.
By organizing your tasks efficiently, you set yourself up for a successful day.
Here’s a couple ways to help you stay on track:
Creating a To-Do List
One effective way to organize your day is by creating a to-do list.
Start by jotting down all the tasks you need to accomplish.
Whether it’s checking off household chores, completing work assignments, or scheduling fun activities, a to-do list helps you visualize your priorities.
I personally love the feeling of checking something off a list so the ole pen and paper is my natural go to, but digital checklists also have a special place in my heart too!
Pick your fave!
Time Management Tips
Effective time management is the cornerstone of a well-organized day.
Allocate specific time blocks for each task on your to-do list.
Prioritize high-impact tasks and tackle them during your peak energy hours.
Remember to take short breaks between tasks to recharge your focus.
By creating a structured to-do list and mastering time management, you can make the most of your summer morning routine.
Stay organized, focused and balanced for the rest of today.
Mindfulness and Mental Well-being
If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ll know I’m a strong believer in the power of a strong mindfulness practice.
Mindfulness is a powerful tool to add to your summer morning routine to help you set a positive tone for the day ahead.
And this doesn’t need to take too long (unless you want it to of course!)
A quick 10-15 minute meditation or simply jotting down a things you’re grateful for can significantly impact your mental health.
Meditation for Clarity
Meditation comes with so many benefits that your body and mind will thank you for.
It’s such a wonderful way to bring clarity and peace to your thoughts and emotions first thing in the morning.
As the sun rises find a quiet spot to sit comfortably and focus on your breath.
Take deep inhales and exhales, allowing your mind to quiet down and bring attention to the present moment.
Engaging in mindfulness meditation can help reduce stress, anxiety, and negative thinking patterns.
By practicing mindfulness regularly, you can strengthen your mental resilience and improve concentration levels.
Embrace the stillness of the early hours to center yourself and cultivate a sense of calm that will radiate throughout your entire day.
Gratitude Practices
Gratitude is a super powerful tool that can shift your perspective towards a more positive outlook on life.
Take a moment during your summer morning routine to reflect on the things you are grateful for.
Whether it’s the warmth of the sun on your skin, the chirping of birds outside your window, or the simple pleasure of a freshly brewed cup of coffee.
Expressing gratitude not only provides instant gratification, but also allows you to harness that same mindset as you go about your day.
Use it as a way to reflect later on. Especially during challenges that may come up during your day.
Keeping a gratitude journal can also be a valuable addition to your summer morning routine.
Write down three things you are thankful for each day, no matter how big or small.
Cultivating a mindset of gratitude can increase happiness, reduce stress, and enhance your overall well-being.
You’ll quickly find you’re able to handle difficult and stressful situations with far more ease on days that you prioritize your mindfulness practice.
It might soon become your favorite part of the morning.
So go ahead and embrace the practice of mindfulness and gratitude in your morning routine. You’ll feel the benefits each and every day.
Let’s Bring this on Home
Ok I’m officially ready to wrap this up. Even though I could keep talking about this subject forever. But for the sake of your time and your eyes we’ll go ahead and bring this to an end.
But I just wanted to say that establishing an everyday routine really does set the tone for the most productive and fulfilling day ever.
But always remember to personalize your routine to suit your preferences and needs.
And try to stay consistent. Some days might not always go to plan. And that’s totally ok. Just pick up where you left off the next day.
So, rise and shine, embrace the day, and make the most of your new summer morning routine!
