Don’t forget about yourself this Valentines Day. Take this time to celebrate you. Celebrate who you are and reward yourself for creating new healthy habits that are going to stick with you for a lifetime. Reward yourself for making this your best year yet. And if you still need another reason, reward yourself for just being the incredible, beautiful person that you are, inside and out. In case you need some suggestions, I’ve created this list of some of my favorite self care ideas. Enjoy!
1. Make your favorite comfort food. Mine is chicken and biscuits!
2. Not in the mood to cook? Order take-out from your favorite restaurant.
3. Make yourself your favorite cocktail,
4. Rent that new movie that you’ve been dying to see.
5. Visit your local coffee shop and treat yourself to a delicious cafe mocha with whipped cream.
Or if it’s too cold to venture outside… like it is here 😞try making your own. I discovered this AMAZING honey latte recipe. Not only does it taste incredible but it’s the easiest thing in the world to make.
Honey Cinnamon Latte- The Recipe & Steps ☕️
Step 1: Brew a cup of coffee like it’s any other regular ole day (I prefer dark roast but you can use whatever you love). Put it in your favorite coffee mug and set aside.
Step 2: In a glass container put in half a cup of your favorite coffee creamer. My favorite is this coconut milk one from So Delicious, but again use whatever you love. Add in one-two tablespoons of honey (depending on your sweetness level).
Step 3: Pop this mixture into the microwave for about a minute. Let it cool for just a bit so you don’t burn yourself. It will be HOT!
Step 4: Now this is where the magic happens. Pop a metal lid onto your glass container. Wrap a towel around it if it is too hot to hold onto. Now shake the hell out of it (with love of course). You are frothing up the creamer to make a delicious foam. Are you drooling yet?
Step 5: Grab your cup of coffee you previously poured and slowly begin pouring this sweet, frothy mixture into the cup. The liquid will pour out first leaving the froth behind to pour out last. You now have a beautiful milky, foamy honey latte. Finish it off with a few sprinkles of cinnamon and prepare to instantly be transported to your favorite coffee shop…while never even leaving the comfort of your kitchen.
Ok, Now Back to the List:
6. Give yourself that dessert you love so much. You’ve been eating well and exercising everyday. And if you’ve missed some days here and there don’t worry about it. You are doing amazing! Keep it up and reward yourself with with that piece of cake.
7. Take a nice long bubble bath complete with a glass of wine and a good book.
8. Do a Yin Yoga class. This is my all time favorite type of yoga after any kind of stressful day or when I just want to give myself a little treat.
9. Spend the day in your PJs binging your favorite show.
10. *And one of my favorite ways to give myself some self care and an adventure all at the same time.* Take a drive through your city. Don’t worry about an exact location or what time you need to be back. Just enjoy the ride. You might discover something you’ve never noticed before.
I hope this inspires you to give yourself the wonderful gift of self care this Valentines Day. Love who you are and do what makes you happy. Everything else will fall into place.
